Accuweather software is a great way to keep students active in their learning. They can access weather information with a click of a button. I can assign a warm up exercise where students will have to look up weather conditions in five cities, and report back within three minutes. There are countless ways that this tool can be utilized in my earth science class. The best part of this software is that it is free, easy to install, and a breeze to interact with.

Google Earth

My earth science students can use google earth to pinpoint exact locations on earth, by reading latitude and longitude coordinates. All you have to do with this software is move your cursor over the globe and your coordinates are visible at the bottom of the screen. This is a great exercise for students because they are seeing the data and the actual locations on Earth simultaneously. You can also locate places in the sky and on Mars.

Games for Earth Science Students
This technology is applicable to my inner city tenth graders because it is fun and still covers the essential content material. Sport games are especially interesting to my students because many of them take pride in the fact that they are good in sports. This gaming avenue for learning can create a new form of competition. Gaming of the mind, and not just physically. I believe this web link will be a great help for me as an educator to throughly reinforce important science concepts.

Nasa Rules on Space

Nasa.gov is essential for earth science students, and computer natives interested in astronomy. This resource brings you to places that are hard to imagine, like on shuttles, in outer space, in classrooms and many other places that are a must see and hear. To soak in all the knowledge that is displayed on these pages would take quite a long time, but a well spent length of time.

How stuff works.

How Stuff Works is an incredibly amazing resource, not only for science students but for people in general. This resource can be utilized in many different ways, all coming to one end, knowledge. My students can research papers, or critique articles, or take quizzes and the list keeps going. I really think students of all ages should take advantage of such an informative website.

After checking out all of my wonderful resources, which do you like the best and why?
